NOT HERE Presents:  The Governor’s Summit on Human Trafficking

November 12 & 13, 2015

The Countdown: 87 Days Remaining

August 4th began our 100 day countdown leading up to The Governor’s Summit on Human Trafficking in Maine. Over these 100 days, we will be sharing a fact, a resource, or a perspective each day, to raise awareness, encourage discussion, and inspire action against injustice, both domestically, and globally.

Today’s Challenge:  Educate your friends and colleagues about human trafficking

“Not Here?!?”

How many times have you started a conversation with a friend about trafficking, only to have them say “That doesn’t happen here, does it? Not Here !?!… Isn’t that just in places like Thailand?”

The name of our organization reflects the phrase we often hear when speaking with a person for the first time about human trafficking here in Maine, the birthplace of our organization.

Our desire is to turn that “Not Here?!?” from a question rooted in disbelief into a declaration of opposition to injustice – both the injustice of human trafficking, and the systemic injustices that leave too many vulnerable to exploitation right here in our own communities.

Declare it:

“Not Here! Human trafficking will NOT be tolerated in our communities!”

Share it:

Here are two great resources from Polaris for sharing with those you wish knew more:

Do YOU want to KNOW more? Do you wish others knew more too?

Meet us at the Summit. Invite others.

Because human trafficking is the fastest growing crime in the world, we need to focus and educate more on Prevention, Protection, Prosecution and Partnerships in order for us to put an end to trafficking and offer assistance, justice, and restoration to those who have been victimized. This will be the focus of our next conference here in Maine.
